Where to Retire? Big Canoe, Of Course!

By Margo Vallone | December 7, 2008

One day last month, instead of deleting all 100 of the forwarded e-mails I receive daily, I deleted 99, and kept one. It was titled “Where To Live After Retirement,” and it highlighted about fifteen different places in the country and then listed below each several reasons why you wouldn’t want to retire in any of these places. While reading through this rather amusing list, my brain light went off and signaled: “great blog idea, Margo!” So, here’s an eclipsed version of the e-mail, with my original addition of Big Canoe at the end. Now, be sure to read all the way through to the end, because that’s the best part!

Where To Live After Retirement

You can live in Phoenix, Arizona where….

You can live in New York City where….

You can live in California where….

You can live in Minnesota where…

You can live in Colorado where….

You can live in Florida where….

OR…

You can live in Big Canoe, Georgia where….

So, if you’re thinking or retiring–or not–come on up and we’ll give you a tour and let you decide.

Happiest of Holidays,

Margo and Peter

BRAVO!!! That was the funniest post I have read in a while, and very true. Big Canoe ties up all the advantages of other resort communities into a tidy inexpensive package.
    Keep up the great blogs!

Very creative. But you may have alienated Arizonans, New Yorkers, Californians, Coloradans, Minnesotans and Floridians who have no sense of humor!

I particularly like the idea of “saddling up kitchen roaches” as a means of saving on gasoline…..

Great piece on retirement! Why would anyone want to live anywhere else?!
